Orange Tonic Mocktail Recipe

Could your mocktail use a makeover? Look no further.

If you love a good cocktail but are cutting back on alcohol or cutting it out completely, try dressing up nonalcoholic drinks (“mocktails”) to feel more festive. 

There’s a reason why experts suggest that men stick to two standard-sized drinks or less and women to one drink or less per day. It’s because excessive alcohol use can cause long-term health problems: liver damage, high blood pressure, memory problems, a weakened immune system, vitamin deficiencies, and more. Alcohol can also interact with your prescription medicines. (If you’re drinking more than the recommended amount, consider talking to your doctor about ways to help you drink less.)

This refreshing mocktail recipe is simple to make and perfect for the warmer weather. All you need are a few mix-and-match ingredients: an orange, a lime, tonic water or club soda, and a sprig of rosemary to garnish.  


Orange Tonic Mocktail Recipe


  • 2 ounces fresh orange juice
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice
  • 1 ounce sweetener (optional)
  • Tonic water or club soda
  • Slice of orange
  • Sprig of rosemary


  1. Mix the fresh orange juice and fresh lime juice. Add sweetener if using. Top with tonic water or club soda. 
  2. Add ice and stir or shake.
  3. Garnish with an orange slice and a sprig of rosemary.

Bonus! Add a refreshing twist to your orange garnish by giving it a sweet char.

Burnt Orange Garnish


  • 1 orange, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons of honey


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Slice an orange and drizzle slices with honey. 
  3. Place the orange slices on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper for about 20-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  4. Once the oranges are charred and slightly translucent, remove them from the oven and let them cool before dropping into your mocktail.
