You can receive the same services with any provider, but your share of the cost is different depending on whether the provider you see is in our network. With an in-network provider, your share of cost often takes the form of a copay, or a fixed amount you pay regardless of the cost of care. With an out-of-network provider, you pay a higher copay or coinsurance which is a percentage of the total cost. If you must see an out-of-network provider, you can ask the provider in advance for an estimate of your financial responsibility.
